Mayuan Gold Charcoal focuses on agricultural bamboo waste + handmade recycled paper packaging + sustainable textile packaging, aligned with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. In Mayuan Village, Taiwan, large amounts of discarded bamboo generated from bamboo shoot production are often treated through open-air burning, causing environmental pollution; through a locally based process, I convert discarded bamboo into bamboo charcoal and reintroduce it into everyday life, developing a series of environmentally responsible products and packaging that integrate regional aesthetics, transforming agricultural waste into sustainable material resources. Based on the moisture-absorbing, deodorizing, and air-purifying properties of bamboo charcoal, three products were developed—bamboo charcoal deodorizer bags, bamboo charcoal incense sets, and bamboo charcoal aroma stones—with a packaging system made from handmade recycled paper derived from bamboo waste and sustainable regenerated textiles, forming a coherent sustainable packaging series that demonstrates how design can reduce agricultural waste, improve environmental quality, and support sustainable rural development.
