Gold Prize

A well-executed abstract metal sculpture with strong spatial dynamics, but needing a clearer and more distinctive ink-inspired identity to stand out at the highest level.

- World Front Design Award Review

Inkform Series : The Moment Before

This work presents a strong and thoughtful translation of Chinese ink painting into a three-dimensional metal language, with fragmented stainless steel forms effectively conveying movement, rhythm, and spatial tension; the contrast between sharp edges and flowing lines creates a compelling balance of dynamism and restraint, while the reflective surface enhances interaction with light and environment, enriching the viewer’s experience. The sculpture achieves a high level of formal and material resolution, and the sense of motion captured in a frozen moment is visually convincing. However, the connection to “ink painting” remains somewhat implicit, as the form language aligns with familiar contemporary abstract sculpture, and without the accompanying text, the conceptual origin may not be immediately clear. Additionally, while refined, the piece could benefit from a more distinctive visual signature or bolder structural move to increase memorability and elevate it to a top-tier award level.
