Buried HoarDs 存物紀
*Buried HoarDs* brings together speculative storytelling, communication design, and social education. By framing hoarding disorder through the lens of “future archaeology” in the year 2267, the project reframes a stigmatized everyday reality as a narrative experience that invites audiences to observe, classify, and decode objects as cultural evidence.
The exhibition design translates common hoarded items into six clear archaeological categories—clothing, books, wires, plastic bags, cardboard boxes, and personal belongings—turning domestic accumulation into an explorative site. Through interactive decoding processes and the custom typographic system **HoarDs Script**, viewers are guided to uncover emotional histories and lived experiences hidden behind the objects, highlighting the gap in understanding between the public and people with hoarding disorder. The inclusion of real perspectives from individuals, social workers, and doctors further strengthens the project’s educational value and empathy-building intent.
Overall, the project offers a clear concept and a structured viewing experience, reframing hoarding from “messiness” or “lack of self-control” into a more complex psychological and social issue. Looking ahead, expanding the world-building and visual identity—and extending the experience through a digital interactive platform or portable kit—could broaden its reach and help it stand out more clearly for wider, international audiences.
