Art Dimension(360-degree virtual film)
Art Dimension: Human Condition and Multidimensional Narratives in Digital Virtual Art,The scene in "Dimensions of Art" is set on a chessboard-like floor, symbolizing the philosophical implication that "life is a play." A red robot in the center is presented in the shape of a cross, then clasped its hands together, inviting viewers to contemplate whether robots will challenge or reconstruct human laws and ethics. The work also incorporates cultural symbols such as a celestial horse combined with a microchip, mythical beasts from the Classic of Mountains and Seas fused with blue and white porcelain, and a one-eyed beast covered in Taiwanese red flowered cloth, creating a multifaceted space interwoven with surrealism and symbolism. Roman columns rise around the scene, the moon slowly descends, and lotus flowers gradually bloom, symbolizing the multidimensional unfolding of the universe and the evolution of the human spirit. The six "blind insects" in the foreground ironically depict collective blind obedience. Art Psychological Interpretation
Jung (1964) proposed the theory of the collective unconscious and archetypes, arguing that the deep human psyche contains universal symbols across cultures and generations. In "Dimensions of Art," imagery such as the robot's crucifix pose, Moses holding the tablets of law, and a blooming lotus can all be seen as representations of subconscious archetypes of religion, redemption, and purification. Freud (1913) believed that works of art originate from repressed desires and the expression of the subconscious. The mechanical elements, mutated creatures, and floating spaces in "Dimensions of Art" echo Freud's interpretation of dreams and repressed desires, and suggest a psychological projection of humanity's desire for future technological control and anxieties about death. Creative Techniques within the Context of Surrealism. Surrealism emphasizes the subversion of the subconscious, dreams, and the logic of reality (Breton, 1924). Salvador Dalí's works often feature distorted forms, time distortion, and scene displacement (Ades, 1982). Through weightless Roman columns, a floating moon, and alien creatures, "Dimensions of Art" defies the natural laws of time and space, creating a visual experience similar to Dalí's "liquid reality." This surreal aesthetic not only creates visual wonders but also deepens the viewer's psychological perception of the essence of existence and the unknown future. A Contemporary Digital Art Perspective
According to digital art theorist Christiane Paul (2016), the unique immateriality, interactivity, and distribution of digital art are reshaping the human artistic experience. "Dimensional Art" utilizes VR technology to create an immersive space, where viewers are no longer passive spectators but rather "beings" who can freely explore and interact with the space.
At the same time, the work responds to what Bishop (2012) calls "dual spatiality" in digital art—the simultaneous existence of the physical and virtual worlds. The checkerboard floor and cosmic background in "Dimensional Art" are visual expressions of this dual spatiality, reminding viewers of their position at the interface between the digital and physical worlds.
Discussion and Conclusion
"Dimensions of Art" combines profound psychological symbolism, surrealist techniques, and contemporary digital art technology to present a contemplative vision of human existence amidst the rapid evolution of technology. Using multidimensional space and symbolic systems, the work explores questions about the future reconstruction of ethics, faith, and identity. It is not only a visually stunning digital work but also a profound dialogue on the levels of philosophy and psychology.
